A medieval farmstead featuring two large timber framed barns dating back to the 13th Century. Built for the Knights Templar, they are two of the largest and finest Medieval Barns in Europe. The site features a walled garden, a medicinal herb garden and an orchard and can be explored via audio tour. There is also a lovely cafe where you can have lunch after walking around! Within 25 minutes drive.
Originally built by St Cedd on the foundations of a Roman fort in 654 AD. The Chapel is always open and is a very special place to visit. The Chapel is very remote, but there are beautiful walks along the coast in both directions, and birdwatching is a popular past time in the area. Within 15 mins drive.
Dedham and Flatford Mill
Dedham in Suffolk is one of our favourite towns to visit in the area. We recommend spending the morning walking along the river to Flatford Mill and stopping at the tea room for refreshments. Flatford Mill is an amazing historical site, and is featured (along with Willie Lott’s cottage) in many of John Constables famous paintings. Once back in Dedham have lunch at the Sun Inn (our favourite pub in England!) or go for a romantic dinner at ‘Le Talbooth’ Restaurant! Within 1 hour drive.
