About Us

About the Owners

Creeksea Place Barns is owned and operated by our family- Harry and Emily Wilsdon, our two children William and Olivia, and our characterful labrador Alfie! We bought the farm 10 years ago, and over the last few years Harry has been working hard to convert the site into what it is today!

We are a family-run business (not a chain hotel!) and we really care about the barns and about our guests, so the experience of staying with us is a personal one. We hope you will enjoy the farm, the barns, our facilities and the local area as much as we do!

The History of the Farm

The orginal barns at Creeksea Place Farm are believed to have been built in the 16th Century, around the same time that Creeksea Place Manor house was erected. At that time, the farm was just a small group of outbuildings that serviced the house and provided storage for grain and manure.

In the Victorian period when farming became more scientific, the barn was extended to house animals, and there is evidence that the barns were used for a milking parlour and for grain processing.

During WW2, the farm was inhabited by over 700 British Special Forces, who used the River Crouch as a training base. During that time, the military built what we now call 'The Old Cinema' to house meetings, and show films. In fact, the projector holes and screen hooks can still be seen!
